Lateral Condyle Fracture

  • Second Most common Paediatric elbow fracture after Supracondylar

  • Most commonly Salter Harris IV pattern.

  • Historically poor outcomes so prompt referral is recommended

CLASSIFICATION

  • MILCH classification or Fracture Displacement Classification [Weiss et al.]

MANAGEMENT

  • Analgesia

  • Refer all to ORTHO

  • <2mm Displacement- Above elbow backslab, flexed to 90 degrees and sling.

  • Close follow up required.

  • Advise patients to wear sling under clothing not through sleeve.
