Seymore Fracture

Displaced distal phalageal physeal fracture with associated nailbed injury.

  • Appears as Mallet finger but extensor tenson is intact- deformity is from fracture.

  • Middle finger is most common

  • Normally Salter Harris II

  • Prone to infection, often need surgical managment.

MANAGEMENT

  • Analgesia

  • Antibiotics

  • Irrigate as possible and splint in extension (flexor surface splint)

  • Refer to Plastics Hand Trauma Clinc
