  • Condition of the Proximal femoral physis, metaphysis slips relative to epiphysis.

DEMOGRAPHICS

  • obese children

  • males (male to female ratio is 2:1.4)

  • during period of rapid growth (10-16 years of age)

  • average age is 13.5 for boys, 12 for girls

MANAGEMENT

Refer to Orthopaedics

CLINICAL ASSESSMENT

  • May present as knee pain

  • Antalgic gait

  • Out-toeing

  • External rotation of the leg during hip flexion
